It has to get easier????

Day One....following C25K programme for 8 weeks, apparently shouldn't be attempting a build up to half marathon unless I can run for 30mins!! :O
Personal Trainer/assessment booked for 23rd May....so HAVE to be doing it by then!
No time like the present!
Luckily it is light enough to run after work, downside is we live in the Surrey Hills (clue is in the name) so any run/stagger is uphill to begin with.
Trainers dug out of the shoe box and dusted off (note to self...as husband has offered to buy a new pair, must sort out this weekend!)
Ipod charged...Chase and Status primed
20 minutes felt like an eternity....not so much my lungs, but my legs felt like lead
Thinking I need to sort out nutrition pretty smartish, so if anyone has any good links of books, much appreciated....
Same again tomorrow...

The challenge....

As if my life wasn't busy/exciting/chaotic enough....2014 has a new challenge up it's sleeve!!!

In the grand traditions of everything Davey, having not run since an inaugural 5k last year I have been persuaded to take part in a half marathon on October 19th 2014...the Bupa Birmingham Half Marathon no less..

It is for a great cause. The man in charge of the persuading-my lovely ex-brother in law (Like a scene from Eastenders) who is a true legend in the fundraising for cancer support charities- threw down the gauntlet. His lovely friend Phil has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer, the least we can do his raise money and awareness, so that one day this terrible, indiscriminate disease will stop destroying lives!

I am no runner.
As my physio (very kindly) pointed out...one is built for comfort, not speed. He is right.
Being married to a long distance runner...also a little bit depressing when an 18miler is his idea of a leisurely jog  ;)
I ride 6 days a week, compete at least twice a month, walk dogs, garden, keep going, but definitely can't run.

Well, on behalf of Phil, Uncle Jim, my father in law John, Tracey Banks and countless others who have had their lives destroyed or changed for ever the work starts today.

Also being a curvy lady...think more Nigella/2 elephants wrestling their way out of a bin bag...and you can't go far wrong....many considerations now need to be considered!
Underwear....of the supportive variety
Shoes....of the running variety
Hair.....of the stylishly bedragled variety

Training plans, eating plans, core strength (Add in to the mix my prolapsed disc issue...and dodgy ankle)
Its going to be an interesting 27 weeks...
